COMPREHENSIVE CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDE
At Anatolia Interiors, our furniture is an investment in quality and craftsmanship. To ensure your bespoke pieces maintain their aesthetic and structural integrity in Malta’s unique climate, please adhere to the following professional care guidelines.
1. WOODEN FURNITURE (Solid Wood & Veneer)
Climate Control: Wood is a living material. Keep indoor humidity between 40-60%. In Malta’s humid winters or dry summers, use dehumidifiers or humidifiers if necessary to prevent warping or “checking” (small cracks).
Dusting: Use a soft, lint-free cloth (microfiber is best). Dusting with a dry cloth can cause microscopic scratches; slightly dampen the cloth with water only.
The “No-Go” Zone: Never use silicone-based polishes, waxes, or aerosol sprays. These create a “film” that attracts dust and ruins the authentic lacquer or oil finish.
Leveling: Ensure your furniture is placed on a level floor. Uneven surfaces can put stress on joinery and cause doors or drawers to misalign over time.
2. UPHOLSTERED SEATING (Sofas, Armchairs & Headboards)
Fabric Pilling: Occasional pilling is a normal result of friction and does not indicate a fabric defect. Use a professional battery-operated lint remover if necessary.
Sun Protection: Direct sunlight is the enemy of fabric. Use curtains or UV-tinted glass to prevent “sun-bleaching” of your sofa’s color.
The 50/50 Rule: Regularly rotate loose seat and back cushions to ensure even wear. If you always sit in the same spot, that area will naturally compress faster.
Professional Cleaning: We recommend a professional deep clean every 12–18 months. Do not use “DIY” steam cleaners as excessive heat can shrink certain upholstery fibers.
3. LUXURY LEATHER CARE
Natural Marks: Authentic leather may show scars, insect bites, or grain variations. These are hallmarks of genuine leather, not defects.
Moisturizing: Use a high-quality leather conditioner every 6 months to prevent the leather from drying out and cracking in the Maltese heat.
Avoid Oils: Never use saddle soap, oils, or harsh detergents. These can strip the natural protective oils of the leather.
4. METAL, GLASS & MIRROR SURFACES
Metal Accents (Gold, Brass, Chrome): Use only a dry or slightly damp cloth. Metal finishes can be sensitive to chemicals; never use acidic or abrasive cleaners as they will strip the plating.
Glass & Mirrors: Apply glass cleaner to a cloth first, rather than spraying directly onto the surface. This prevents liquid from seeping into the wooden frames or metal joints.
5. DINING TABLES & CABINETRY
Thermal Shock: Placing a boiling pot or a frozen item directly on a wood or stone table can cause “thermal shock,” leading to cracks or white heat rings. Always use a trivet.
Writing Surfaces: Always use a protective pad when writing with a ballpoint pen on wooden desks or dining tables to prevent pressure indentations.
IMPORTANT: WARRANTY LIMITATIONS
Please be advised that under the Maltese Consumer Affairs Act, the 2-year legal warranty covers manufacturing defects only. The following are specifically excluded from warranty coverage:
Environmental Damage: Cracking or warping due to extreme humidity or proximity to AC units.
Color Fading: Fading caused by exposure to direct sunlight.
Chemical Damage: Damage caused by the use of non-approved cleaning agents (bleach, ammonia, alcohol).
Accidental Damage: Scratches from pets, sharp objects, or impact.
By following these guidelines, you preserve the life of your furniture and your rights under our warranty policy.
